Therapy for teens

 

Many adolescents are in therapy today. Mental health problems such as anxiety, depression and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in U.S. school-aged children are common. In fact, according to a recent study, 1 in 6 children are affected by a mental health issue.

Therapy helps adolescents cope and learn new skills to address painful feelings like sadness, anger, stress, worry and low self-esteem. These can be caused by issues such as family trouble, school problems and bullying. They can also be caused by conditions such as ADHD, depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Adolescents should be informed that going to therapy is not a sign of weakness and it does not mean that they’re crazy.

I treat many adolescents and work with emotional and behavioral issues that include:

Therapy for adults

 

Therapy can be an effective treatment for many of life’s problems – especially for those where nothing you’ve done seems to help, or when your own coping skills stop working or become far less effective than they were in the past.

You don’t have to be diagnosed with a mental health problem to benefit from therapy. Many people seek therapy for concerns such as relationship problems, job stress, healing from childhood trauma, or self-doubt.

I treat adults with concerns and issues such as:

⭐ Stress & anxiety

⭐ Coping with adult responsibilities and tasks
⭐ Coping with past childhood trauma

Families struggling with Fertility, Complicated Pregnancy or Loss

 

Fertility challenges can cause tremendous stress, anxiety, depression and lead to emotional trauma. Complicated and high risk pregnancies can also trigger many difficult emotions which would benefit from external support.

Therapy for new moms

 

Let's be honest, being a mom isn't easy. Adjusting to motherhood is one of the biggest transitions you will have in your lifetime. It is a time when support is truly needed.

Not only is motherhood physically exhausting at times; it can be emotionally draining as well. The highs and pure love are often coupled with lows and uncertainty.

Unfortunately, moms often do not share experiences that are outside the happiness ideal or how they believe they “should” feel. If you are experiencing both highs and lows or feelings of ambivalence, you are not alone. If you are not “enjoying every moment”—no one is. These feelings are not a reflection of who you are as a person or mother.

Pretending that everything is okay when it really isn't gets exhausting. Hiding your feelings from others in order maintain an illusion that you "have it all together" can cause even more profound feelings of shame and isolation.

Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

It can feel liberating to ask for help from a therapist. Sharing your story in a safe environment can be incredibly healing. I encourage you to treat yourself with the same compassion that you show others in your life.

Children's Therapy

 

When it comes to therapy and counseling, your child's needs vary depending on their developmental stage. I work with your child to identify their developmental stage and provide them with appropriate treatment.

 

Children's therapy differs from adult or adolescent therapy because children can express themselves more effectively through play and art than through words. I use these methods to help your child express and comprehend their emotions and problems, which in turn helps them to function better.
